What is Skin Effect in EHV Transmission Lines ?
Answer:
- The Non-uniform distribution of current through the given Cross Sectional Area of the Conductor, when it is operated on Alternating Current System is called Skin Effect.
- The main reason for the Skin Effect is non-uniform distribution of Flux Linkages.
- Flux Linkage is more at the center of the conductor and decreases as we move from center to outside.
- Hence the EMF induced in the Center will be higher Outer side of the conductor.
- Since, Power is Constant, current at Center is less.
